(Friday, 10:00) In the sometimes bleak and harsh world of homeschooling, we need each other if we're to make it through in one piece and impact the world. So, if you've homeschooled for over 10 years, are new to the game, or are about to toss in the towel, you need to come to this workshop. And in case you are a dad and think you're off the hook, you're not! You're needed most of all. I promise that you'll laugh, be encouraged, and be challenged in YOUR distinct role within the homeschooling body. ● Lies Homeschooling Moms Believe (Friday, 1:00) Your house is a disaster, your kids seem out of control, and you wonder how you'll ever make it through another day of school. Your "get up and go" has "gotten up and went". You used to think homeschooling was the best thing since sliced bread, but now you’re feeling like burnt toast. Take heart - you're not alone! No one homeschools because it's easy. You do it because you believe it's best. But there are times when you need to be reminded once again why it's best. Join me as we do just that. You'll laugh and be encouraged in the toughest job you'll ever...love. ● Dream BIG (Friday, 4:00) As long as there have been dreams, there have been dream killers. We've all encountered candle snuffers, bubble busters, and wet blankets. They're the ones who constantly remind you why you shouldn't homeschool, have more children, be a stay at home mom, or take that step of faith you believe God would have you take. The world is filled with dream killers. They grew up with you, they live in your house, and sometimes they...are you. Their intentions may be good, but if you listen to them, you will miss out on God's best for your life. Join Todd as he helps you revive old dreams, gives you weapons to battle dream killers, and urges you to throw caution to the wind and set sail for the adventure of a lifetime. ● Homeschooling, but Still Married! (Mom's Only) (Saturday, 9:30) Are you having trouble finding the time and energy to meet the needs of your husband after a hard day of homeschooling? Maybe you've forgotten what his needs are. Would you like your husband to take a more active role in homeschooling? Maybe your husband refuses to be involved in training your children. Join me as we look at your role, not as a homeschooling mom, but as a homeschooling WIFE. Your husband will thank you for coming! The discussion will be lead by a real husband of a homeschooling mom. ● Help! I'm Married to a Homeschooling Mom (Saturday, 1:30) It's a fact! The only thing tougher than being a homeschooling mom is...being married to a homeschooling mom! Dad, your wife needs your help. Come join me as we discuss how to support and assist our wives in the homeschooling journey. We'll also do a lot of laughing, as I encourage men to be encouragers of their homeschooling wives. ● Will the "Real" Homeschooler, Please Stand Up! (Saturday, 3:00)Are you convinced that every homeschooling family except yours is great? Do you believe the lie that others are more organized, better prepared, have smarter kids, are wiser parents, and have a child in the national spelling bee? Well, let me set the record straight...that's not the way it is! The truth is most homeschooling moms feel inadequate and fear that they're letting their kids down in their education and in example. They feel like their house is out of control, their children are beasts, and the sizzle has left their marriage. Join us as we demonstrate the power in being REAL.

This is hard work, especially for parents with one income and many children. Many states now have “virtual charter schools” that offer tax-funded instruction over the Internet. Come find out why many state constitutions prohibit Christian parents from using charter schools to disciple their children in their homes.
Marcia Somerville, wife of HSLDA Staff Attorney Scott Somerville, is a homeschooling mother of six and the author of Tapestry of Grace. Marcia graduated in 1976 from Kent School, and received her degree in history from Dartmouth College in 1979. A homeschooling mom since her first child began kindergarten, after ten years, Marcia was ready to quit. She couldn’t imagine a way to give all her children a worthy education in every subject. After a season of tears and prayer, though, drawing on her own rigorous high school experience and her Ivy League degree in history, she developed a method that integrated studies of the humanities and social sciences into a four-year survey of world history. Today, hundreds of families around the country benefit from Tapestry of Grace. In addition to writing homeschool materials, Marcia enjoys speaking on a variety of topics that encourage and enlighten fellow homeschoolers. Her vision is to mentor homeschool moms in raising up a generation of Christian youth equipped with a deep, apologetics-oriented understanding of the Great Conversation and the ability to someday contribute to it themselves. www.tapestryofgrace.com ● Teaching with Tapestry of Grace (Friday, 1:00) Do you hear “Classical Ed” and feel simultaneously intimidated and inspired? Marcia's been there and done that! Come hear many helpful tips for planning your time wisely, occupying toddlers while teaching, planning lessons for maximum effect, and many other helpful topics. An extended Q & A session will allow you to ask the questions unique to your own setting as well.

●
Taming
the Tongue
(Friday,
2:30) Do you find yourself
threatening, repeating your instructions, or raising your voice in an attempt to
get your children to obey? Do you feel guilty because you know you should be
faithfully training and instructing your children in righteousness but you're
not sure how? Are you frustrated because it seems you just can't reach the heart
of your child? Ginger guides parents in searching out God's truths for how to
give a biblical reproof. This presentation richly inspires and equips parents to
let faithful instruction flow from their lips.
● Reaching
the Heart of Your Child
(Saturday, 9:30)
Unfortunately, there are many parents today who focus only on the outward
behavior of their children. They have developed the philosophy that if they can
get their children to "act" right that they are raising them the right way.
However, there is far more to parenting than getting our children to "act"
right. We have to get them to "think" right and to be motivated out of a love of
virtue rather than a fear of punishment. Ginger encourages and equips parents to
reach past the outward behavior of their children and pull out what lies within
their hearts.

Dual Crediting -
Combining High School and College Credit
(Saturday, 3:00)
Now that the Lord's Blessings have been seen and recognized on homeschooling
endeavors, and the first generation of homeschoolers have graduated and begun
to make their mark on the world, God is opening doors to another level of
home-educating, that of combining college credit with high school
requirements. Getting the word out on how to accelerate in higher education,
accumulate credits towards college, and have a high school transcript that
boasts of Honors Programs is the aim of this session. CLEPS, DANTES, and
Portfolio Assessment are gaining popularity in the Homeschooling Community,
and are just one way to prove that higher learning is being accomplished.
Through the sharing of this homeschool pioneering mother, attendees can glean
from her experiences with traditional college, distance learning, and
accelerated education.
